Silver Star Mountain Resort and the Okanagan Wine Festivals' Society announced sales for the two-day Okanagan Summer Wine Festival presented by American Express are very strong with expectations that the 7th annual festival will sell out across all events. The festival runs to be held August 8 and 9.
The festival will feature art, music, unique wine education seminars, dinners and an outdoor wine tasting. This year’s focus on wine education includes intriguing seminars pairing wines and Poulain chocolate; a new coffee and wine pairing presented by Starbucks; aromatic cheeses and wine presented by the Dairy Farmers of Canada, and a wildflower and wine walking tour.
Gary Reynolds, owner of Lake Breeze Vineyards and president of the Okanagan Wine Festivals stated “The combination of outdoor recreation, the visual and culinary arts with wine has enabled the Okanagan Summer Wine Festival to occupy a wonderful niche for wine tourism.”
Robin Baycroft, manager of resort services at Silver Star Mountain Resort said the mountain provides the perfect backdrop for fine wine and dining.
“Silver Star is a great location for wine tourists to be hosted. The resort offers first class accommodation, wonderful hiking, mountain biking and restaurants and cafes. To act as the host resort for this unique wine festival is a perfect fit as we continue to develop our summer season.”
The 2008 Okanagan Summer Wine Festival presented by American Express at Silver Star Mountain Resort will offer a wide variety of wine and food-related events over two nights and two days, along with a unique Art Gallery.
The premiere event is the one of a kind Outdoor Progressive Tasting in the village at Silver Star. The Outdoor Progressive Tasting takes place on main street at Silver Star, Saturday August 9 from 4 to 7 p.m. complete with live music, a complimentary wine glass and 20 wineries pouring.
